It was founded in 1965, and since then, Simon Fraser University (SFU) has grown into one of Canada's top comprehensive universities with campuses in Burnaby, Surrey and Vancouver. The institution has the name of an early explorer and is situated on the west coast of British Columbia, Canada.
More than 160,000 alumnae and almost 1,000 tenure-track academic members make the university one of Canada's largest and most prominent community-engaged research institutions. SFU has grown into one of the world's leading research and teaching institutions throughout the years.
Times Higher Education (THE) has classified it as one of the world's top 100 under-50 institutions, and Maclean's magazine has named it Canada's best university for the last five years in a row (2015-2019).
