Stony Brook University, established in 1957 to train secondary school science and math teachers, has grown into one of the nation's most important academic institutions.

A wide range of colleges and schools are available at this university: the College of Arts and Sciences; the College of Business; the College of Engineering & Applied Sciences; the Graduate Program; the Renaissance Medical School; the School of Dental Medicine; the Graduate Program; and the School of Health Technology & Management.
