The Student Government Association at TAMU-CC hosts the student body's elected officials. The SGA is divided into three sections: the Executive Board, the Legislative Branch, and the Judicial Branch, which comprises the Chief and Associate Justices of the Student Senate.

Currently, the Student Senate includes two primary categories of senators: general senators, who have a senator from abroad, a senator from the military and another from the housing department, a senator from athletics, a senator from the disability services department, and a senator from the library. In addition, seven colleges are represented by senators in the College Senate, including three senators from each of the following departments: Business, Education & Human Development (BEEHD), Liberal Arts (LA), Nursing & HSS, S&E, and UCC.
