    Originally known as the Grant MacEwan Community College, MacEwan University became a higher learning school in 1971. The institution, located in Alberta's capital city of Edmonton, provides eight bachelor's degrees, two applied degrees, and 43 diplomas and certificates.

     

    The institution is divided into four colleges and two schools, each offering a wide range of academic options in subjects such as nursing, business, engineering, fine arts, and community studies. More than 19,000 total- and part-time students are enrolled at the institution.

     

    More than 12,300 students are enrolled in credit programs at the university. In addition to the City Centre Campus, the institution also maintains the Alberta College Campus. The largest of the two, the previous campus occupies seven city blocks downtown Edmonton.

     

    Human, health-care-related, and business-related certificate and diploma programs are all available on the campus. At the City Centre Campus, the university's administration department is located. A kilometer distant from the City Centre Campus, the educational institution Alberta College also offers programs in music and English as a Second Language (ESL).
