Aberystwyth University was established in 1872. At the university, there are six major academic departments: Biological, Environmental & Rural Sciences, Business, Computer Science, English & Creative Writing, English Language, and Geography & Earth Sciences. It also provides courses in history, Welsh history, international politics and law and criminal justice, and practices in mathematics, modern languages, physics, psychology and theatre studies.
