As initially known as the Institution of Kent at Canterbury, the University of Kent is a well-known public research university in Kent, England. It was founded in 1965 and is a Beloff's plate glass university.

In all, there are three campuses for the institution in Kent. Parkland's Canterbury Campus consists of six colleges, an arts centre, a library and a building named after Nelson Mandela. The 300-acre campus is well-connected to the city centre and London and is spread out across a wide area.

It is located in Chatham and Rochester, on a former naval facility site, on the Medway Campus; a waterway separates the Dockyard Chatham and Pembroke campuses. Pembroke's hearts are the Drill Hall Library, the Centers for Professional Practice in Journalism, the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences, the Student Hub communal space, and the Medway sections of the School of Sociology and Social Research School of Computing.
