    Joint Entrance Exam (Mains)

    JEE Main is the entrance exam after which students can take admission in various engineering institutes like IITs, NITs, CFTIs. Students seeking admission in undergraduate engineering degree courses like B.E./B.Tech./B. Arch. programmes offered by various technical institutes can apply for JEE Main.

    The maximum number of attempts for JEE Main is restricted to three only.


    JEE Main 2022 Overview

    JEE Main examination is applicable for admissions into NITs, IIITs and CFTIs participating though the Central Seat Allocation Board. The admission is subject to the condition that the candidate should have secured at least 75% marks in the 12th class examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the recognized Boards. For SC/ST candidates the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class examination.

    Subject combinations required in the qualifying examination for admission to B.E./B.Tech. & B. Arch./B. Planning Courses in NITs, IIITs, and other CFTIs is as mentioned below:

    Candidates must score 75% marks in the 12th examination from a recognised board and should be in the top 20 percentile in the respective board for admission in IITs, NITs and CFTIs. For SC / ST candidates, te minimum marks requirement is 65%.


    JEE Main Reservation Criteria

    NTA follows the reservation criteria laid by the government of India for offering admissions through JEE Main. Below is a table for percentage reservations of various categories for admissions into JEE Main:

    OBC candidates:         27% reservation
    SC candidates:           15% reservation
    ST candidates:            7.5% reservation
    PwD candidates:            5% reservation
    GEN-EWS candidates: 10% reservation
    Women candidates:       5% reservation
