    JEE Mains 2023: Eligibility criteria for JEE Adv is 75 percentile for each board


    The Ministry of Education has come up with the decision mentioning top 20 percentile students from each board will be eligible to get admission in IITs, NITs and appearing in the JEE Mains exam. 


    Students who have not scored 75 percent marks in their respective board exam need not worry as they still stand a chance to become eligible for writing JEE Advanced if they fall under the top 20 percentile in their respective boards.

     in The top 20 percentile students of each education board will now be eligible to seek admission in IITs and NITs and appear for JEE Advanced even if they have not scored 75 per cent marks in class 12, according to Ministry of Education.


    After seeing discontent and representations from students and other stakeholders requesting to change the criteria of 75% marks in the Class 12 examination, the Ministry has now come up with the provision of 75 percentile as the eligibility criteria. The reserved category students falling under SC/ST, need to score 65% in Class 12 examination. The Ministry came up with the decision considering the students from various education boards demanding relaxation in the eligibility criteria for JEE (Advanced) as a minimum of 75 per cent aggregate in the class 12 board examination.


    Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) across the country for students of all recognised boards seeking admission into IITs, NITs, IIITs, CFTIs, and many other affiliated colleges had earlier stated,  “As per the Information Bulletin of Joint Entrance Examination (Main)-2023, the candidates who qualify for admission to NITs/IITs and CFTIs and for admissions based on JEE (Main).
