Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO)
DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organization) executes Research & Development projects for the Ministry of Defense, Govt of India. Spread across fifty DRDO laboratories, the organization empowers high technologies under several disciplines such as electronics, astronautics, armaments, missiles, naval systems, combat vehicles, special materials, agriculture life sciences, training, information systems, advanced computing, engineering systems, simulation and instrumentation. The organization recruits competent engineers for the posts of Group ‘A’ (Class I Gazetted) Officers known as Defence Research & Development Service (DRDS).
Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO)
ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) recruits engineers through a special test named ISRO ICRB (Centralized Recruitment Board). The major recruiters of IES Engineers amongst government organizations are the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Directorate General of Supply and Disposals, Indian Navy, Indian Railways etc.

Engineers can appear for Union / State Public Services Examination to get appointed for various administrative jobs in the states and Union Territories of India e.g. RTO, MRO, Tehsildar, banking and industries like ONGC, GAIL, SAIL, IOCL, NTPC, BEL, CIL, BHEL GAIL, BPCL etc. Many of these jobs require the candidate to clear GATE.
